The mission of the Literacy Center is to provide literacy services to those in need with the purpose of breaking the cycle of illiteracy in our community.

What is the Literacy Center?

The Literacy Center was created by The Madison County Literacy Coalition (MCLC), a non-profit agency originally formed in 1985. Its mission is to provide literacy services to those in need with the purpose of breaking the cycle of illiteracy in our community. Those who lack the functional reading and writing skills or speak English as a second language (ESL) now have the chance to receive a helping hand from our dedicated team of volunteers.

The Madison County Literacy Coalition is:

- A full member of ProLiteracy America

-Associated with the Indiana Literacy Foundation

-A member of the Family Literacy Alliance sponsored by the National Center for Family Literacy
